Shoebox Gifts

3 Dec

For many years now students at New Brigden School have participated in the Shoebox activity with this year being no exception. Today, Thursday, December 3rd students and their siblings got together to build their shoebox gift. They start out by wrapping an empty shoebox with decorative Christmas paper. Some of the items that were used to fill the gift boxes were: small games, tooth brush/paste, brush/comb, small shampoo, crayons/pencils, sweets, small toys, mitts/toque and socks. The shoebox is then closed up with the decorated lid, a tag placed on top with the appropriate age of either “boy” or “girl” and it is ready for someone special.
Not only was this a good lesson for students to work and get along with their siblings but they also learn that giving to those who are less fortunate is also a good lesson.
These gift boxes will be transported to Oyen and donated to the Oyen Ministerial Association, who will then distribute them locally, ensuring that all children will have a Merry Christmas.
