FNMI EDUCATION AT NEW BRIGDEN
5 Oct
Monday morning, October 5th both students and staff were excited and ready for a great day of fun and learning as part of our First Nations education. The group “Red Thunder” a family from the Tsuut’ina Nation near Calgary came into the school and presented several workshops throughout the day. Each class had a session on beading, drum making, tipi making and hoop dancing. The students showed great enthusiasm for the hands on activities, as well as learning a little history behind each special art. The day concluded with students, staff, parents, grandparents and community members going to the New Brigden Hall for a final performance by “Red Thunder” – what a perfect way to end such a great day!
